Our client sits at the forefront of shaping the future of electrical engineering and energy solutions. As a P&C Field #Technician, you'll be a vital part of their mission to ensure the reliability of high-voltage substations and electrical systems. If you're passionate about electrical engineering and eager to join an innovative team, your opportunity begins here!

Roles and Responsibilities:

· Conduct testing and commissioning of Protection and Control systems within high-voltage substations.

· Perform hands-on protective relay testing on-site using relay test sets like Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150. This includes testing relays such as SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, GE D60, and others.

· Open to fieldwork, primarily in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Wyoming, and other Mountain West region areas.

· Oversee the entire project scope, encompassing the testing and commissioning of protection and control systems in high-voltage substations for electric utilities and renewable energy plants.

· Plan, schedule, and coordinate outages for demolition, construction, and testing in utility substations.

· Coordinate and lead electricians, relay technicians, and commissioning engineers to ensure the proper installation, testing, and energization of new protection and SCADA systems.

· Provide field engineering support and verify wiring according to design drawings. Submit and track RFIs related to system design or implementation.

· Verify SCADA and DFR points, document results, and address discrepancies.

· Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).

· Participate in virtual and on-site meetings related to the project, collaborating with project management and clients to identify and mitigate project risks and resolve scheduling conflicts.

· Maintain, sign off on, and deliver project record drawings and test documentation.

Required Education/Experience:

· Possess 10+ years of professional experience in the electrical testing industry.

· Demonstrated expertise in medium and high voltage circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation protection and controls testing.

· Extensive experience in electric utility operations, substation construction, outage sequencing, and commissioning.

· Proficiency in transmission, substation, and distribution relays (SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE families) and protective schemes.

· Experience in validating substation protection and control wiring.

· Technical skills related to protective relays, including relay calibration using test sets/measuring devices like Omicron CMC 256/356 and Doble F6150, control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit testing, ability to upload settings to microprocessor relays, and static and dynamic testing of microprocessor-based protective relays.

· In-depth knowledge of electrical field-testing standards, practices, and procedures such as NETA, IEEE, and NFPA standards.

· Familiarity with testing electrical distribution, generation, and transmission projects with voltage levels ranging from 15 kV to 500 kV, including protective relays, circuit breakers, transformer controls, SCADA systems, and DFRs.

· Experience in performing brownfield retrofits of relaying and equipment.

· Willingness to travel, with the potential for up to 85% travel time.

Desired Education/Experience:

· Possess a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or a similar discipline.

· Experience in testing and commissioning electrical equipment in high-voltage substations, including CTs, CCVTs, PLC systems, and DC systems (batteries and battery chargers).

· Expertise in using the latest computer-controlled solid-state test equipment, such as automated protective relay test equipment like Omicron or Doble.

· Proficiency with NovaTech OrionLX and GE D20 equipment.

· Hold a Professional Engineer license (P.E.).
