Electrical Inspector - Voltage Divider Systems

Position Summary

The Electrical Inspector - Voltage Divider Systems is responsible for inspecting, testing, and verifying the proper installation, configuration, and performance of voltage divider circuits and related electrical systems. This role ensures compliance with applicable electrical codes, engineering specifications, safety standards, and quality assurance protocols. The inspector works closely with engineers, contractors, and technicians to maintain system integrity, accuracy, and operational safety.


Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect voltage divider circuits in low, medium, and high-voltage applications.
  • Verify correct resistor values, tolerances, wattage ratings, and proper series/parallel configurations.
  • Ensure proper grounding, insulation, and safe spacing of components.
  • Review electrical schematics and confirm installations match design specifications.
  • Test output voltage levels using calibrated measurement equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, high-voltage probes, etc.).
  • Identify and document defects, non-compliance issues, or safety hazards.
  • Confirm compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE as applicable).
  • Conduct field inspections during installation, commissioning, and maintenance phases.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and corrective action documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical discrepancies.
  • Support troubleshooting of voltage regulation and signal conditioning issues.
  • Monitor calibration accuracy of inspection and testing instruments.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical inspection, quality control, or electrical system testing.
  • Strong understanding of voltage divider principles, Ohm's Law, and circuit analysis.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Valid electrical inspector certification (preferred).
  • Ability to work independently and in field environments.
