About the Role

We're seeking a hands-on AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) Engineer to join a fast-growing space startup building and launching next-generation small satellites. In this 12-month contract role, you'll be part of a lean, high-impact team working on satellite integration campaigns, environmental testing, and launch prep activities.

You'll be deeply involved in spacecraft hardware, functional testing, and system-level integration - directly supporting upcoming flight missions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and integrate spacecraft subsystems (electrical, mechanical, thermal, and avionics)

  • Execute test procedures for functional, environmental (vibe, thermal vacuum), and end-to-end system tests

  • Perform fault isolation, root cause analysis, and resolution of integration issues

  • Develop and document AIT procedures, test plans, and verification reports

  • Work closely with design, manufacturing, and mission teams to ensure flight readiness

  • Support launch campaign activities as needed (travel to launch site may be required)

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in satellite or aerospace integration & test (AIT) roles

  • Strong hands-on skills with electrical/mechanical integration and test equipment

  • Familiarity with cleanroom procedures and space-grade hardware

  • Experience interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and ICDs

  • Comfortable using standard tools (oscilloscopes, DMMs, torque tools, etc.)

  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts during critical test or launch campaigns

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CubeSats, ESPA-class, or small satellite buses

  • Familiarity with spacecraft EGSE and ground support software

  • Thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration, or EMC test experience

  • Bachelor's in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar

Why Join?

  • Get hands-on with actual flight hardware in a fast-moving startup

  • Work on missions with real orbital deployment

  • Join a team of passionate space professionals with minimal red tape

  • Contract extension or conversion to full-time possible based on performance
