Darwin Space is currently hiring for a Senior Space Systems Engineer on behalf of a business in Luxembourg.
Responsibilities
* Define operational and demo mission statements, including mission needs, expected performance, dependability, safety goals, and operational constraints.
* Develop functional specifications and maintain the System Requirements Document (SRD).
* Analyze orbital effects, optimize orbits, and perform detailed mission analyses for constellation design.
* Investigate launch opportunities and ensure compliance with regulations.
* Define subsystem specifications and basic design; produce system budgets (link, mass, power, etc.).
* Design, develop, and simulate the space segment; interface with telecom and payload engineers.
* Design and specify the ground segment and operations environment.
* Conduct troubleshooting, performance analysis and optimization of space and ground systems.
* Develop algorithms and interface systems with simulators.
* Manage procurement processes and oversee AIT/AIV activities, qualification campaigns, and environmental tests.
* Coordinate with satellite manufacturers, ground segment providers and external partners.
* Participate in demo campaigns and interface with customers, research institutes and government agencies.
* Prepare project proposals, funding documents, contracts and bidding documents.
* Maintain proper documentation of all technology developments.
* Report on task follow-ups, manage risk registers and provide monthly progress updates.
* Coordinate multi-partner inputs for mission execution and spacecraft procurement.
Requirements:
* Minimum 7 years of experience in similar positions.
* At least 1 year of experience with mechanical and/or electrical design of small satellite systems (industry or academia).
* Experience with AIT/AIV processes for small satellite systems.
* M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
* Knowledge of ECSS standards, understanding of spacecraft operations and ground systems preferred.
* Experience with CubeSat projects.
* Demonstrated project management skills.
* Ambitious with a sense of urgency and ability to adapt in an entrepreneurial environment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
