Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Cable Technician to support the installation of electrical cabling systems on onshore wind farm projects across Germany. This role is critical in ensuring reliable power transmission from wind turbines to substations and the grid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, terminate, and test low, medium, and high-voltage cables for wind turbine systems
- Perform cable routing, pulling, jointing, and glanding in accordance with technical drawings and project specifications
- Carry out inspection, fault finding, and repair of cable systems and associated components
- Support commissioning activities, including testing (e.g. insulation resistance, continuity, VLF testing)
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, cable layouts, and method statements
- Maintain accurate documentation, reports, and test records
- Work collaboratively with engineers, site supervisors, and other technicians on-site
- Adhere to strict HSE (Health, Safety, and Environmental) policies, particularly in a wind farm environment
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Cable Technician within renewable energy or wind farm projects
- Strong knowledge of LV/MV/HV cable systems and installation techniques
- Experience with cable termination and jointing (certification preferred)
- Familiarity with testing equipment and procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and electrical diagrams
- Good understanding of safety regulations and practices in Germany (e.g. DIN/VDE standards)
- Valid electrical qualification or apprenticeship
- Fluency in English
- Willingness to travel and work on various onshore sites across Germany
- Full EU driving licence
